Open Hands Midway Inc. was organized in May, 2009 and granted non-profit status in September. This outreach ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in-the-Midway was organized to engage the Hamline-Midway neighborhood with open hands to meet the physical and emotional needs of the poor and disenfranchised. The core values of this ministry are:
|
• Everyone is welcome
• Love changes people
• Everyone has gifts to share
• All things are possible
|
 |
Because of our unique location at the crossroads of University and Snelling Avenues in Saint Paul, we have a wonderful opportunity to share resources that have been donated to us by our own members and through our partners at 14 other local churches.
We serve a meal each Monday from 12:00-2 pm.
In 2010, Open Hands Midway has served over 9,000 meals and distributed over 3,000 bags of clothes, 200 blankets, 700 coats, as well as furniture and household items at our Monday Meals, Street Ministry on the third Saturday of the month, two Lawn Parties in the summer, and special events like the Thanksgiving meal and Christmas Party. Our Emergency Food Shelf has helped families with over 2800 pounds of food.
